Rise Together: Street and Community Outreach

Rise Together is our flagship street and community outreach programme. We go to the places where people affected by drugs and alcohol spend their days: markets, taxi parks, informal settlements and riverside communities across Kampala.

Teams of trained peer recovery coaches and counsellors offer a meal, a conversation and practical harm reduction information. For anyone ready to take a further step, we arrange an assessment and a referral into treatment, outpatient care or a weekly peer circle.

During this outreach the team spent the day in Kisenyi and Kawempe, meeting many people who had never spoken to a counsellor before. Several of them have since joined our support circles.

What we provide on the day: compassionate listening, harm reduction education, life skills guidance and direct referral to treatment and recovery services.
